OPPORTUNITY COMING SOON
SERVE WITH OUR PARTNERS
Use your gifts and time to serve alongside local organizations.
Our nonprofit partners depend on volunteers to love and serve people in our community. We'll help connect you with an organization and opportunity that fits your interests.
MENTOR A STUDENT
OARC Mentoring // Adam Hammond
Through the Oconee Area Resource Council (OARC) Mentor Program, you can make a difference in the life of a child, and come to find that child makes a difference in your life, too. Mentors make a positive difference in the lives of students by serving as a positive role model, a listener, a helper, and a friend. Mentors commit to meeting with their student 30 minutes per week, typically over a student’s lunch period. Mentors commit to one school year.
A one-time training is required and lasts just under an hour. Mentors complete a background check at this time.
DO GOOD. DO IT YOURSELF.
Simple projects you can do on your own, with your family, or with a group.
Completing a service project is a great way to get involved and make a difference in our community, but sometimes it’s hard to serve on-site with a non-profit organization. These DO GOOD DIY projects allow you to participate in a service project on your own terms.
Each project contains step-by-step instructions. They are great for individuals, families, or a group. If you complete a project, be sure to let us know how it went! That helps us measure and celebrate the collective good we do in our community.
SERVE A FOSTER FAMILY
You don't have to become a foster parent to make a difference. Find a way to support a foster family in our community today.
Foster families need more than encouragement—they need a community around them. There are many practical ways you can support children and families involved in foster care, whether you have a lot of time or just a little.
From providing meals and childcare to offering respite, encouragement, and practical support, every act of service can make a meaningful difference.
JOIN A CARE TEAM
This is an ideal first step to support a foster family before making a deeper commitment. Care teams provide help with meals, babysitting, outings, and transportation to foster families 1-2 times a month.
BE A RESPITE FAMILY
Do you have the capacity to be an aunt/uncle to a child in foster care?
Can you be available for overnight care as needed (potentially for consecutive nights)?
Can you support a foster family and child by providing day and/or evening support to a couple?
BE A FOSTER / ADOPTIVE FAMILY
Do you have the capacity to have children come live with you for days/weeks/months while the birth parent(s) works on correcting issues that stand in the way of their relationships with their children?
Oftentimes these children have unique needs, and can be different from your own children.
