DEACON NOMINEES

Deacons at WFBC assist our church family in various hands-on ministry. They are put in place to serve the church body, protect the church body, care for the church body, pray for the church body, and administer the ordinances. Practically that looks like serving communion, praying with the Pastor each Sunday morning, assisting with First Step & Membership Class, helping with the Church Picnic, checking on needs of senior adults, service projects, and much more. They serve a vital role in our church body.

Eight men are being recommended to begin serving. Those being recommended are Scott Bates, Ralph Moore, Michael Ransom, Tony Roseberry, Bob Rumely, Allen Skinner, Dave Tangren, and Nate Thomas. You can read about each one below. If affirmed by our church, they will join our deacons who are currently serving.

SCOTT BATES

My wife, Lindsey, and I have been members of Watkinsville for nearly seven years. We currently serve on Sunday mornings with one-year-olds in the nursery area. We also served this past summer with VBS.

RALPH MOORE

My recent service includes helping with some small painting projects and campus pressure washing, helping the leadership of a Sunday morning group, and a couple of mission trips to Guatemala City to support Engadi ministries.

MICHAEL RANSOM

I’ve been a member of Watkinsville First Baptist since February 2007. Currently, I serve as a greeter and am also part of the security team.

TONY ROSEBERRY

My wife, Natalie, and I are active in Sunday School and our Small Group.

I serve when I see a need and recently worked as part of the Operation Christmas Child volunteer team. I look forward to being of service to the needs of our church.

BOB RUMELY

My wife, Cherilyn, and I have been members of Watkinsville First Baptist Church since 2003. We attend the Koinonia Sunday Group and are part of the Ratti's Small Group. We serve as mentors for Right Start, and I am the church liaison for the Mercy Clinic.

ALLEN SKINNER

I have been a member of Watkinsville FBC for 45 years. Over those years, I have served as a Sunday Groups teacher, choir and praise team member, on various committees, and as a Deacon. Currently I'm serving as a greeter during Sunday morning services. I have enjoyed serving my church family and look forward to the plans He has for the future.

DAVE TANGREN

Edie, the kids, and I have been coming to Watkinsville FBC since April 2022. We've served in WatKidsville (3rd grade boys and 2nd grade girls) for the last year. I'm humbled, and very much look forward to serving as a Deacon.

NATE THOMAS

I started attending Watkinsville regularly after my first year of college and officially joined the church in 2021. My wife, Julia, and I quickly got involved with youth and kids ministry. I previously served in kid’s ministry, leading Sunday school for second-fifth grade boys. Today, I am still with those young men in D-Groups! I may be biased, but I think they are the best 7th graders in the world. Hanging out with them and seeing them grow closer with Christ is one of my favorite parts of the week. Julia and I are also involved in a Young Married small group, which has been a huge blessing in this stage of our life!
