Moral Values for WFBC Interns
As an intern for Watkinsville First Baptist Church, we see you all as a face of the church. You will not only be known in your own ministry area, but also throughout the whole church. Anyone that looks at our website can see pictures of our interns. You will help with church-wide events (like the church picnic) etc. Because of your level of visibility in this ministry, we would ask you each to pursue holiness, wisdom, and integrity in life.
Here are expectations that we have for you during your time of service as an intern:
In terms of alcohol, the Bible is clear that drunkenness is a sin (Ephesians 5:18). We expect all interns to not get drunk, regardless of location. We also expect all interns under 21 to abstain from all alcohol.
Abstain from any drugs, except those prescribed by a doctor.
Pursue sexual integrity.
In terms of social media, be aware that what you post should flow through a biblical filter. As interns, what you post reflects WFBC to some degree.
Maintain a vital and growing personal walk with the Lord.
Be actively involved in worship services, events, and activities.
Help and encourage staff, volunteer leaders, members, and visitors as needed.
In general, when forming convictions and deciding if something is permissible, some helpful questions to think through:
Is it helpful - physically, spiritually, and mentally? (1 Corinthians 6:12)
Does it bring me under its power? (1 Corinthians 6:12)
Does it hurt others? (1 Corinthians 8:13)
Does it glorify God? (1 Corinthians 10:31)
(Questions taken from The Pursuit of Holiness, by Jerry Bridges)
If you will choose to uphold these values, please check yes on the intern application. If you have any questions about any of these areas, or are currently struggling, please reach out to Rachel Barnes (Intern Coordinator) or Jon Channell (College Pastor) so we can help.
